Planning Commission Meeting

Town of Atlanta Planning Commission Meeting -

July 26 2022 6:30 pm

Attending: Roger Roehl, Susan Mayer, Mark Christoffersen, David Vohs, Nick Wilson

 

Roger brought the meeting to order. A motion to accept the minutes from the last meeting was made by Susan Mayer and seconded by Mark Christoffersen. Motion carried.

 

Roger Roehl said the County had still not ‘accepted’ the town taking over it’s own zoning. The county wants to see three things: our zoning ordinance, a land use map, and documentation of where the town made a decision to take over zoning. The ordinance is on the town’s website. We have a land use map. The minutes from the special town meeting where it was voted to take over zoning are missing. The group agreed that the easiest way to make the county happy was to call another special town meeting and have another vote.

 

Permits submitted:

Cynthia Berlovitz - Conditional Use for tourist housing on Shadow RoadRecommend Not Accepting. No paperwork accompanied this request. The owner of the property was inquiring what would be required if she did want to post her cabin on an AirB&B type site. Requirements for Tourist Rooming House are covered in our zoning ordinance under section 3.9. They include the requirement of a local contact and a lodging license from the county's Public Health. It was also felt that the her driveway might be too narrow for RV’s, trucks w/ trailers, etc. to maneuver. Mark Christoffersen will contact Cynthia to inform her of requirements.

Kelly SimonConditional Use for trailer park on Dearhamer Road Recommend Not Accepting. There are already three trailers at the site on Dearhamer/Adams Road which would have been under county zoning. Our Zoning Ordinance for a trailer park are in section 3.6 under mobile home parks. That requires a hard surface driveway and in common areas. There must also be a central toilet, shower, and washing area. There are other requirements but there was nothing in the paperwork that indicated either of these. The group felt a site map would also be necessary before the permit would be granted. Roger Roehl will talk to Kelly about what needs to be done.

Troy & Michelle Sunday – Storage Shed on Edgewood Road – Recommend Accepting

All of the paperwork was submitted for a shed and it meets town zoning requirements.

Eric Johnson – New Home on County Road O – Recommend Accepting. All of the paperwork was submitted for the new home plus a floor plan, outside sketch, hydrology map, and topography map. Team felt a lot of thought had gone into this project.

 

Comprehensive Plan review -

Mark – Section 1 & 2 - waiting on new numbers for demographics from 2020 census.

Nick – Section 3 – waiting on census

Susan – Section 4 – a draft is on the website for approval

David – Section 5 – Mark will send him a copy of this section in word format.

Clarence – Section 6 -

Roger – Section 7 & 8 & 9 – a few changes required

 

Motion to adjourn by Mark Christoffersen. Seconded by David Vohs. Motion approved.
